Manatee e-NVH software comes with a flexible modeler of e-machine magnetic circuit geometries, which includes external rotor Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machines.
A complete set of slot/hole/pocket parametric templates is provided to quickly define the magnetic circuit geometry, which allows to perform parameter sweeps on the lamination or magnet shape input variables.
Special slot or magnet pocket geometries can be defined using slot .dxf import and magnet pocket .dxf import features. Manatee also allows to define uneven pole distribution.
As for other AC machines, the winding pattern can be automatically defined using star of slot method. Predefined templates or user-defined geometries of rotor or stator ventilation ducts, notches and skew are also available for outrunner PM machines.
Manatee automatically calculates magnetic forces observed by both rotor and stator structures. In the case of external rotor topologies, air-borne magnetic noise is produced by the excitation of rotor structure while structure-borne noise is produced by the excitation of the stator structure. Manatee structural and acoustic models are automatically updated to accound for external rotor topologies.
